Topic: What is a very high-security,thick cable-style lock that's about 6' ?

I like the idea of having a thick cable type motorcycle lock that's about 6' long and at least 25mm thick;something about a somewhat flexible high-security cable would be secure.

There are thinner ones for less money, but I'm sure this makes for a good visual deterrent for those that'll be stopped by a lock.

I think that cable is a very difficult thing to be cut through.

Hand held battery driven drilling machine can drill that lock mechanism and open it?

There are people around here that steal bicycles with help of  a  battery driven angle grinder. Even the best lock will not live long.

Where to park is essential. Motorcycles might need  alarm installed.
Park a nice CB outdoor can end up in missing parts.
If usually parked at the same place, guys in a truck can just take it.
I"m happy to have a garage wich is part of the house.

Activate an alarm with cameras if leaving house for vacation. Alarm company get the alarm and can act.

I think that cable is a very difficult thing to be cut through.

As Dave mentioned, an angle grinder could cut through that in a minute or two.  But, it will keep the "honest thiefs" at bay!
Good insurance may be a better buy.

Is this going to be used at home only?  If so, a thick cable may be OK.  If you intend to take it with you on the bike, I recommend a purpose-made chain instead.  Thick cables take up too much space when stored.  I have an older Kryptonite cable that is about 3/4 inch thick, and it's almost impossible to coil it less than 12" in diameter.

Drill a hole in your front disc and put a lock through it. Look weird though with one hole

I was also considering a strong thing called 'Cobralinks',but I don't know how heavy it is..
I want to use it when parked somewhere away from my residence.
How about a special alarm for a motorcycle that will ring my cell phone if someone moves it;has anyone tried that ?

I used to put the small end of a Cresent wrench through a hole in the sprocket with a pad lock through the handle. Did this for my dirt bike at the camp grounds at Pismo Beach, worked real well.

Shoot first?
Tranquilizer gun?

Hey Per...this is a great suggestion.  The device could be hidden on the bike, the thief would most likely not even know he is being tracked.  Very affordable too...

This one makes the most sense: GPS    I imagine they're making them with different features and smaller also.

I think a GPS tracker is a good idea, but a visible deterrent, such as a heavy chain should be used as well.  While battery grinders can cut through cables and locks relatively quickly, the idea is to have the thieves pick an easier target. 

A chain or cable should be long enough to loop through an immovable object, otherwise the thieves can just pick up the bike and throw it in the back of a truck.  A friend lost a brand new motorcycle this way.  He had a lock that immobilized the bike, but did not tie it to anything.  A security cam video showed a van parking next to the bike.  Four guys got out, picked up the bike, threw it inside, and drove away.  The whole thing took a few seconds.
