International Bike Shipping to the US from the EU?
« on: March 16, 2023, 06:53:47 AM »
Can anyone recommend a reliable motorcyacle shipping outfit that'll ship a bike from Germany (or anywhere in the EU) to the US east coast like Baltimore, New York, Newport News VA etc ?
I'm thinking about going to Germany, purchasing a new Honda TransAlp, riding it maybe 10 days or so with friends around the Alps and Mediterranian, then shipping it as "used" back here to the states.
Thanks.

Sorry I can't help with your question but it brought back a good memory. It was the 1970's I believe and my dad was hot to trot on a program/tour that BMW had where you could buy the bike from them and take a Euro tour and then they would ship it back to the states for the customer. Well his dream crashed when the 'boss momma' put her foot down I think and he ended up buying a Suzuki t500 locally.

Thanks ekpent.
I think BMW still does that for thier cars from Munich. Probably still with bikes too. Maybe I'll reach out to them to see if the know of a third-party that'll do it. In the meantime, if anyone else knows of a company I'm interested to know who that is and what the process was like for them.
Thanks.

David Silver moves a lot of bikes and parts back and forth. It might be worth asking.

I think BMW still does that for thier cars from Munich.

Yes, my brother did it a few years back. Was a great trip for him and his wife, spent two weeks driving the Autobahn and Autostrada [Italy] and then had the car shipped to Texas.

I havent imported a bike from Europe but have imported a classic car from Canada, you def want to use a company that has the experience to do it right and with minimal issues.
It was a fairly straightforward process with a pile of paperwork.

I would start here...

Good luck.

DSS is a big parts supplier for Honda motorcycles. They are based in England and in the US in Pa. they ship a lot of crates of bikes and parts all over the world for re-sale, import and export.
