Topic: Spark Plug Wires

Can't find the answer in the instructions or anywhere else.

I'm curious what the little metal bits are that came with my Dynatek Spark Plug Wire Kit. I circled them in the photo.

Many plugs had them as default for many years ago.
Now part to purchase.
I got them too with my Dynatek wires that did not work.
One had intermittent function which I understood too late. Thought it was carb jetting issues. Graphite wires can be brittle if searching on it.

I changed to copper wires and NGK 5 kohm caps.
Stiff wires so the will stay in coils.  Soft will not, tried that with issues and bangs.

Strapped to frame, fuel hose around wire where strappad as extra insulation.

Soft wires can get loose when washing bike or the wind only. Happened to me too often.

I had them ferrules on top of my sparkplugs, because Dynatek plugcaps forced me. They proved unreliable, meaning: they loosened causing intermittent misfires. When I found out, I returned to NGK plugcaps which connect way better. By doing that, I could also abandon the R plugs, which are not a good choice for our bikes. The NGK caps have the resistor in the cap. Much better.

I bought the NGK caps and installed them on the wires.

Should I forgo the little metal nubs then or do I still have to screw them on the spark plugs?

the NGK spark plug boots are designed to fit over the threaded post. If you install the "post nuts" on the spark plugs then the NGK spark plug boots will not fit down over the top post of the spark plug.

I could imagine that NGK would make spark plug boots for models that specify a (permanent) post nut type of spark plug, but if I ordered boots for a CB750 SOHC4 I would expect it to fit a threaded (bare) post.
