Hello from greater Atlanta CB500
« on: March 05, 2023, 12:29:45 PM »
Hi everyone!  I am embarking on a father-son project (we are both adults) to bring a 71 CB500 back.  I will try to attach a few pics with this intro.  It is an early 71 (frame and engine numbers are below 2000).  Bought from second owner.  It was a running bike until he started converting to a cafe racer.  I want to bring it back closer to what it was supposed to be.  Will undoubtedly have to undo som of his work, including some frame work.  I am really a car guy-- have restored a number of classics, but bikes caught my interest and here we are.  I already appreciate this community and I hopt o both learn from you and also to add some value in the future.  The first thing that is puzzling me about this bike is the colorway.  Every CB500 pic Ive seen has the black portion of the tank, while this one was all one color (see the pic).  It looks like its original to the bike.  The side covers are the same color, which i didn't think was a an option.  It looks like an electric blue.  Anyway, happy to have been approved and look forward to becoming a part of your family.

Welcome aboard Llanier44
That blue wasn't available in the USA  on the 500 or the 550K bikes, most likely it has been repainted at some time.
And yes as you said the 500s had the big black center of the stripe.
