How the heck does the rear fuel tank rubber mount go on?
« on: March 20, 2023, 04:29:04 PM »
I purchased a new rubber rear tank mount a few months ago and just now installing.  For '78 CB750K.

I cannot find any reference to understand if the triangular tab goes to the front or rear.

Any ideas?  #13 in the pic.

The drawing shows clearly how it should be, put the rubber on from the front side, you use the tab to pull the rubber back to mount the tank!

I tried multiple times and thought I was going to pull the tab off.  Will try again.....

It will feel like you're going to tear it. I pull the tab and put one side in at a time.

I have also recently received one for a 750K7 that was 'backward'. It had to be mounted with the triangular tab pointing forward. There were some 750F1 bikes like that, too, using the parts made after about 2006 or so.
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

Hint, just like on the side cover grommets, spray some silicone on it to help it slide on and off easier.

That's the only way it makes sense to go on to me, with the triangle facing forward.
