Whatever you decide, DON'T buy another one: I have about a dozen of them from past seal sets, leftovers. Most are for the post-1975 engines.Just let me know, I'll send you one (yours is K7?).
That should be the metal collar under there. Almost looks like you used a drift/punch. I would think if the collar wasn't pierced it would be fine. Can you take a larger needle (a fly tying bodkin is what came to mind) and see if that's just a dent or an actual hole?
