1975 or 1976 Goldwing

I have a line on a GW 1000cc appears 75/76 with title. The situation is the owner passed away and the kids are getting rid of everything to sell the home. I have not seen it in person yet, but a "picker" friend sent me a couple pics. They are saying it's a parts bike based on the left side having wires hanging out. Friend says the kids think it's worth $300-600 for parts. A friend who works on these is telling me it's getting pretty hard to find OEM parts for these bikes now. No idea yet if the motor is free or if it's a roller. Always stored inside and don't know miles yet. What are your thoughts?

If it has a title Johnie and can be had cheap sounds like an interesting project. Looks to be stored well. Big bonus if those exhaust pipes are good. Think the yellow is a cool color on those but I am biased cause I have a yellow 750F ! Are you up for a little challenge ? Having owned one you kind of know your way around.
  Can't tell in the pic but is it all still nice and naked with the headlight bucket etc. ? Mileage ?

Headlight bucket looks empty from the pic, but not sure what they did with the wires in those early GW years. I see the throttle handle missing and maybe the clutch cable hanging down on the left side. Will post more info when I get a look at it.

A friend who works on these is telling me it's getting pretty hard to find OEM parts for these bikes now.

$600 is a don't pass it up price.  That looks in decent shape and parts are available.

New CB750 K6 Anteres Red, to replace the totaled K5, I sold this K6 at 45k in 1983, I had heavily modified it, many great memories on it and have missed it greatly.....

Look for the missing seat grab bar and turn signals, from and rear.
Looks like it probably had a Vetter package on it at some point in time.

Looks like it probably had a Vetter package on it at some point in time.
Its got all the earmarks of having a fairing/bags removed by the looks of it to me.

I would say go for it...looks like a decent shape and you can get your money out of it if you have to scrap it.
Should be a good project. Be patient on buying parts.
Naked Goldwings group will be a good resource.

That looks familliar. There was a YouTube video of a kid getting his grandfather's red GW out of a garage where it was parked next to a yellow GW with some wiring mess just like that one, I think it had 14,000 miles on it? (15,565 in the video)
The kid had no idea about old goldwings but took the red one to his shop to make more videos, I'll see if I can find it... Brb.

Yup, it's in Osh-Kosh.

Looks like he got the red one running too.

Yeah, I had stumbled upon that Goldwing video previously, so when I saw this thread, I had a hunch.  Props to Alan for putting it together.  And yeah, the kid making the video does pretty good mostly, but sometimes I am like "No!  don't do that!"

Yes, there was 2 bikes. A red 75 and the yellow 76. I watched both videos (2 hours) on that 75 which the grandson took home and got running. It was a major repair even with it being a complete bike with all wiring intact. Minor mice issues. Engine froze, removal of heads, valve work, failed head gasket and a host of other things. I don't know if I want to get into something like this 76 yellow bike. They sat next to each other for 25+ years so I would think same issues. Only good thing is the yellow bike has 15,500 miles and the red 75 55,000. I am leaning on passing on it. Yellow bike has cut wires and a bunch of missing parts. Don't think I am interested in parting out a bike and going through the hassle selling the stuff.

If the kid worked on the red one and went through all of that he would surly have an idea as to the worth of the yellow one and if it was real cheap there may be a reason. Unless Johnie wants a major project I think he may be looking at it right.

Are there no aftermarket wiring harnesses for these GLs? I'm sure you could find a used harness to swap out to.

When I first watched the video I'd thought his grandfather had planned to do just what any of us would probably do, swap the motor from the yellow bike into the red bike, and ride another 50,000 trouble free miles. I'd bet the red bike is the problem child of the two.

Ok, Parts N More has a wiring harness for 75-77. This one on eBay from VintageCB750.com doesn't appear on their website, but they have a Parts N More link....
