1975 CB750K Coil Question
« on: March 24, 2023, 11:30:53 AM »
I hate electrical. Anyway; I'm assembling a 1975 CB750K. The coils take came with it are Dyna  2.2 Ohm coils. Can I run those coils with the standard points setup?

You need 5 Ohm coils for points system.

That's what I thought from BubTube. Can I use the 2.2 Ohm coils with electronic ignition?

Yes, I do believe that 2.2 Ohm are the standard coils supplied with the Dyna system. But, they may not be compatible with other types of electric ignition.

I tried Dynatek 3 ohm coils (green) with Dyna-S ignition. Battery did not charge as much as needed during first ride. I noticed it in time (weak electrical starter) and rode with headlight off when noticed the weak battery.

I could change the coils to 5 ohms (black) where I bought them for  20% off for old coils trade in.

Those 2.2 ohm coils must be to a completely different ignition and bike.

Edit:
I visited Dynateks webpage and searched for CB750 -74
https://www.dynaonline.com/parts/honda/cb750k/1974

Not any 5ohm coils that match a street bike better.

Another thread discussed cheap igntions. Look familiar, right?

There are China coils too.
Like this 5 ohms Dyna style.

I ordered mine from China a month ago.
