Decided to go do a little testing on the mono shock bike. I haven't been on it for a while. Last time out it seemed like the bike wasn't reacting when I released the clutch lever. I pulled the cover and took all the plates out thinking I'd find a broken fiber or two. Much to my surprise, all I found was very slight discoloration on one steel. I moved a few plates around, oil up the fibers and put the plates back in. The one thing I discovered when I was adjusting the cable at the cover was the adjuster wasn't seated inside the housing. Hmm. I never noticed this before. I determined that I just need to switch out the end piece and it slipped right in. My guess is the cable was randomly hanging up before but I needed to get to a track to verify my hopeful solution to the lack of proper reaction. I also had issues with the bike not shifting correctly so i made changes to the shift killl time by increasing it to 65 milliseconds. On my first hit the bike left good but momentarily missed shift. I bumped the button again and all went well until i chopped throttle before the stripe. I came back and bumped up the kill time a few clicks. The 2nd pass the bike shifted great but i bogged slightly off the line. I also bumped the shift button a little before the stripe knocking off ET and mph. Overall i was satisfied with the test passes and successful changes to the bike. I just need more seat time to lower my 60 foot more and get comfortable with the bike again. I'm about a tenth off my best ET on the bike right now. My next time out I'll probably put a nitrous bottle in and set a soft tune up. I'm curious to see how an sohc will react to laughing gas.
