Chain Oiler Revisted

Is there any reason why I shouldn't use the original oiler versus the plug I made up?
Not sure if the rubber ring needs to be replaced or I can use as is and just tighten it up. If a "functional" oiler still leaks I'd rather use the plug.
It seems like the oiler space extends 22mm. My spark plug is just under 22mm with the tip. How far from the engine is the chain oiler hole? If I use it I think I'll remove the tip.

Are you trying to shut off the oiler?

Yes, but I'd like to use the original part to do it. I had a few leaks last year and not sure the oiler was the issue. Just thought I'd replace it anyway over the winter to eliminate a possible leak. Wondering if the oiler looks good enough to reinstall or best to just plug it with the one I made. If I do use the oiler should I replace the rubber ring? Do the chain oiler's effectively stop the oil from leaking out when turned off or does it still leak a bit anyway? If its going to be a nuisance I'll plug it with the spark plug.

Stock is usually working if adjusted right so rubber swell in hole.
Another thing if rubber is damaged.
