Agreed. I think I can take it off, but it screws into the back of the OEM sending unit so don't want to mess it up. That barrel thing completely covers up the engine number which is how WI titles these older bikes. I was able to see that number with a mirror to confirm it was a legit titled bike.

It looks like the sender from VDO that I used on my old 66 Volvo 122S or one of the many 240 Volvos which I fitted with oil pressure gauges. The sender has both the variable output pressure gauge and the low pressure switch outputs. The stock oil pressure switch sender is just the low pressure switch sender.
You will need a plug on your motor if you remove it. The flats of that sender on the VDO model senders were stamped with the pipe thread pitch the end was threaded.  Not sure if that’s precisely what you are dealing with or another brand. VDO part number was on another flat of the sender bolt head.

Yes, the OEM oil pressure switch screws into the top of the case. I would leave that in place. It's that other barrel thing...it screws into the back of the oil pressure switch. i would need that plug for the back of the OEM switch. I will leave it be for now, but will take that wire out of there.

As my granddaughter says..."listen to this"... so about 8 years ago I went to an auction of a Honda dealer in southern WI. Got a lot of cool stuff, car was packed. Some stuff didn't know if I'd need, but it was all in a box for 1 auction bid. This included metric nuts, bolts, washers and a lot of fasteners which has come in real handy putting this GL back together. Couple boxes of repair manuals which I should list on this site. So I was going through some of the stuff and found an original owners manual and a first edition HONDA service manual for this GL. Then in the back of my mind I recall a front MC was in a box so checked that out and it was OEM front MC for this bike. The Gods were watching out for me...LOL  Still going to rebuild the 3 calipers and rear MC. Brake line from front MC to connection is cracked, but dealer locator shows none in the USA. I have about 6 used ones here that are pretty long that may work out.

My buddy Gary used brake lines from Apex on both ends of his ‘75 Wing. Really improved the front brakes.

I've used Apex and was very happy, but my go-to now is Vehill, which uses screw on ends so are infinitely clockable.

Johnie, John recommends them because the Teflon braided stainless steel lines won't bulge at all giving a 1-to-1 on the fluid. Also no rubber insides to deteriorate and collapse when worn out. Overall a superior line. Some suppliers even have black outer rubber clad outer hose rather than the variety of clear or other commonly used polyurethane (I think) outer hoses.  They appear more like standard hoses.
No one is going to care as you aren't going to be showing the bike anywhere that the Teflon braided stainless hoses are going to get any demerits.

The prices are fine, the Concours has Spigler lines but that was before I knew about Apex. All of the other lines we've replaced are Apex.

Apex prices are the lowest I’ve found and the quality is second to none. Raymond has also made all the brakes hose for our race cars and they’re just as good!

Definitely an oil pressure sending unit, hooked up to an electric oil pressure gauge. Looks like an old VDO unit.
