She's gorgeous Johnnie, That sulfur yellow is a very desirable color on the Goldwing. Nice running bikes in that color command good money. You won't get hurt by the amount of money and time you have put into it as they are a nice bike with good running and comfortable mile muncher...

Bill the bar switches are good all electrical works as it should. However, I did leave the blinker buzzer off...LOL. Just waiting for the temp in the shop to hit 70 so I can use the Evaporust in the tank. Plus, my wife wants me to change and paint some doors so that is taking president...LOL I do plan to use my auxiliary tank to fire it up and sync those carbs.

I leave that blinker buzzer on for two reasons- one, the funny looks I get at stop lights.  Two?

I genuinely forget my blinker is on half the time, so it's actually useful!   ;D

Bill I haven't started the Evaporust treatment yet. I want to have no distractions between adding the treatment, removing it, possibly doing it again, then adding the flash rust treatment. I can't be painting and installing doors for my wife while I am working on the bike. At least the temp is above 70 now so I should be able to get at it soon.

When I used Evaporust on my gs I left the tank sitting on my parts washer's metal lid with a 60W trouble light under the tunnel. That kept the tank slightly warm to the touch since it was cold out when I did it.

Well I have to admit the Evaporust did a great job on my tank cleaning. Left it in 24 hours. Used my shop vac to remove and inspect the progress. Decided I needed to let it work another 12 hours. So I filtered it and filled up the tank again. I was very happy with the results. Will be starting it soon as I get a few things done on my wife’s list 😀

The top picture of that strainer in the bottom of the tank doesn't look as good as the picture at the bottom.

It is working nicely Johnnie, you may want to leave it longer than 24 hours as the older it gets , darker it gets, the action won't be quite as fast.

I had the Evaporust in for 36 hours total and am happy with the results. That strainer area was where the old fuel sat for a long time. I have gas in and now waiting on a petcock. I filled it with gas so I wouldn’t get flash rust.

Bill...I could not get under that screen as it is so fragile and did not want to damage it. I did clean around the outside of the screen. Since that is the reserve part of the tank I feel it is good enough for what I was after.

I did my 78 with muriatic acid. It was a rust-free tank a guy on F/B goldwing page sold me. It was rust free but only on the outside. They threw me off the page after the next discussion. I was worried the screen would be gone but it came really clean and looked great, I did have to rod out the reserve tube with a speedometer cable to get it clear. I used some blue (northern?) sealer that came from advance auto. It didn't work well in a 750 tank but that was the left stuff over from the gl job. So far the gl is hanging in good. I use an oz of Amzoil 2 stroke in every tank when it's parked a lot. On the road I don't worry about it.

Don,the reserve screen/tube being clogged like that would have me worried if I ever needed to switch to reserve;glad you were able to clear it all out  :) . a 'reserve' of clean fuel is just what's needed.  ;)
Have you had to switch to reserve since then ?

I have to be honest that Evaporust doesn't taste very good and leaves an after taste...LOL. I used a hose to suck some of the Evaporust up both fuel tubes to be sure they were clear and to get some cleaning done on the inside of the fuel lines. I should have just grabbed my Mity Vac. I have a new fuel filter on and ordered another. After a some miles I will change is out. They're still available at my dealer and are used on a number of bikes yet.

If it's any consolation, those screens are fairly worthless, so if you damage them it's not really that big of a deal.  If you have stuff in your tank big enough that you need the screens to stop them, you've got way bigger problems to worry about.

Unrelated, I'm still blown away by how good a product Evaporust is.  I've used it a couple times now, and have not been disappointed ever.

We've saved at least 10 gas tanks and a huge pile of parts with EvapoRust. It always works great and works best in a heated shop.

Good point Lucien...I was thinking those screens were just an experiment by Honda when the Wing came out in 75. I wonder how many years they did that. I do agree Evaporust is a great product. I have used Metal Rescue in the past, but this product sure did a great job on mine. It's going to be my "go to" product from now on.
