I've got a full face helmet that fits a bit loose and I want to get a type of 'hat'/headcover,beanie to wear under it while riding with the helmet, even in the Summer. I will be washing it after a few rides so I hope to find one that has resilient padding while still keeping me from sweating too much in the Summer.
I like the feel of some more padding,as the upper half of the orig. helmet padding is now flat. thanks,Bill

Do any of you members regularly ride with one ?

There are some two piece balaclava's that might also work in the cold with the bottom attached. Underarmor has some one piece ones that might be modified.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

A new helmet that sit right will be more comfortable.
Some helmets have different paddings as spareparts to adjust the inside.

Safer if an accident occur and you'll need the helmet function.

Bro, all these things you're doing to avoid buying a new helmet amounts to time and money you could have spent on a new helmet.

There are high performance helmets on the market that don't cost $600+

(Edit; by high performance I mean durable)

I'm working $ on it,but so far the quality helmet I want and have chosen is still out of reach.

The original request which I started this thread still applies;I don't think it's at all unreasonable.
Do you have information in that regard ?  I need to stay on the subject of this thread.

I Do plan on buying a new helmet;the helmet I plan to purchase is over $300 more than I have right now..

I am just trying my best to make use of the one I have right now.

A better question is: Does anyone know where I can purchase a new white Shoei RF1200 Large for $200 ??
That's all I have to spend now as I'm living on SS which is my only income for now.
I'm doing what I can with $ what I have.

I appreciate it if one of you knows because I would buy it tonight;I have just $200 for a helmet now.
I have chosen an RF1200 and I'll need to wait to get the full amount it costs with a UV protective shield;I've had skin damage on my face and don't want anymore. Please let me repeat: I Have Chosen To Purchase A New Shoei RF1200..

I don't plan on getting humiliated/gas-lighted on the forum here for being low on $ right now,or for any other reason;it happened to me in the past on a Suzuki forum and I'm not going through that again.
I Need only encouraging posts toward what I'm looking for.  I don't mind deleting this thread if need be. I just don't need the stress.

Over here there are often helmets on sale.
OK helmets for around $150US.

My head is box shaped so trickier to find a matching helmet.

Shoei, Bieffe and Schuberth are brands my head had accepted so far.

Back in the late 70's Clay Regazzoni I bought and used all the time.
Very good high speed function. Visor sucked as all helmets back then.

I now have only a Gmax 3/4 helmet(1 yr. old)with flat shield and a Shoei RF-800 which has the missing inner liner foam.
The Shoei RF-800 I have is a Large but when I view the top styrofoam EVA(this is in excellent shape)inner protection,it has molded in there 'X Large'  ::) which makes it loose on my head. The inner styrofoam EVA is in excellent condition.
I love the fit of Shoei helmets and the aerodynamic shape;very quiet going through the winds.

Do you have a Cycle Gear up there around Davis or Sacramento? I believe you can finance purchases there. Just a thought.

Shoei should have replacement liners. My last helmet was an Arai Signet X and I had to get a liner that was one step between that of the XL2 and XL model to get it to fit properly. It was $40 for the new liner.

But, probably better to put that $40 towards a new HJC open face helmet that comes in white, likely in 150 range I would bet.
You really cannot tell from visual if the foam is good beneath the molded skin…manufacturers claiming 5-6years after manufacture you should retire the helmet…the foam deteriorating just being exposed to the atmosphere…
Kind of like Lithium batteries capacity start degrading after manufacture…

There is no biker shop closing down that have a huge sale?

If you know specific helmets you have tested, no problem to order when you know the size.

I ordered an extra Schuberth C3 Pro from France when I knew the size.
My blue/white same model but with special graphics.

The new one need some thumb massage here and there to press the foam to fit my head better.

If you're $300 shy of a shoei now, you'll still be $300 shy after fixing up the helmet you dont want.
I know how it is to live on a fixed income.  "Small" purchases take up big percentages with that kind of budget.
Maybe its time to consider putting the helmet purchase on a credit card.  Banks are required to extend credit to disabled people just the same as everyone else.
