JR Todd rough weekend X2
« on: April 02, 2023, 03:50:16 PM »
Did anyone see John Force's car get away from him and collect JR Todd's car then later JR blew his Toyota funnycar to pieces?  And they walked away.

After the interview, I wondered if Force had his eyes closed. He seemed to think he had hit the left wall and drug JR into the opposite wall. I have heard the saying "I can drive rings around you" but that was the first time I ever saw it done.

I guess the good thing was just bent and broken stuff, no fire and both drivers walked away. That is some high dollar scrap right there!

That's too bad about John Force's accident at Pomona.  Just glad to see that he wasn't hurt.
Watched the NHRA Nationals in Florida the week before..and John had some problems there also.

Some may remember that he had a more serious accident about 5 years ago..(also at Pomona if memory serves me here).  He had to go to hospital for that one.  Not sure but think he's in his mid to late 60's nowadays (?)

Don't know about the rest reading this here..but feel that especially with the lightening-fast reflexes needed for competitive drag racing..
maybe it's wise to gracefully retire from competitive driving..as we get older here.  John's daughter Brittney seems to be on top of the sport..competition-wise.  Maybe that can be enough for John now..rather than pushing the age envelope as he's done now for the past few years (?)

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Force is 73!  I dont see him walking away from the sport as long as he can still get strapped in. 4 seconds is all he needs!

His daughter Brittany [pictured on right] is doing well and daughter Courtney [on left] retired from racing and is married to Graham Rahal [Indycar racer]

One of my buddies was in the top alcohol pits and a Force girl was hanging out. It was a race where Alexis did well and the Patron was distributed through the pits. Anyway, she was starting to have too much fun and Forcey  himself came on the pit bike and took her back to the trailer.

I'm 70 and considering getting my NHRA license again for our 7.40's at 180 (on a good day) dragster. My driver daughter will be too pregnant to fit the seat belts by race season. She might make it to the last race if they bring the camper and baby along.
So I guess I shouldn't be pointing the finger at old guys.

JR had a DNQ this weekend. Took all of the credit and apologized to his crew. He's quite the sportsman and even Force complimented him on being respectful.
Then Force apologized to Connie Kalitta for wrecking one of his cars. He said Garlits, Muldowney, Prudhomme and Kalitta were his heroes. He didn't want them to be disappointed in him.

A friend had a head injury, him and some Nascar drivers have all said they get a slight time delay from the visual recognition to their reaction. Maybe force is having that.
