Topic: Who has quality left and right controls?

 I got a few miles on the 4into1 (I know) replacement controls and am not very pleased. The turn signal is off center from the L and R so it's difficult to determine when they are off.
  The same with the headlight switch, the detents suck, before I left I did the hand in front of the headlight check and sure enough, it was off although it appeared to be in the low beam position . I just went to high beam after a semi tank truck pulled out in front of me. Not a real emergency braking type but not a polite one either.   
 DSS maybe?

I don’t have an answer beyond good used or nos ones.

I bought one from 4into1 before they banned me from purchasing from them. (They sent me garbage products and I forced my way into a refund because they refused to accept a return on unused 1 day old junk they sent that did not in anyway match their description)

I only needed the bottom half of the switch body, needless to say, it too was junk. Crack I half at the screw when barely hand tight.

Maybe try Everett, I’ve always had good luck with them as they only stock quality parts. You can call em and ask if they are better quality than the ones you already have. They have always been quite honest with me about what they have.

Are the ones from PartsNmore the same as the ones from 4into1? I've used the PartsNmore switches on CB550 and CB650 with good results.

 Thanks, the DSS left side looks like what I have, with the cast in writing different than stock. I'll have a look at partsnmore and Yamiya.
  I had an order of those things that usually don't get screwed up like centerstand springs and C brackets,   so I took a shot and tried the controls.

all of the reproduction switches have "turn" on them and lots of retailers carry the same switches but like the original factory switches, the good quality reproduction switches have the "hm-0000" stamping on them with the "TEC" on the button still. Everett powersports has them for $140 and yamiya has them for about $85 before delivery....

I purchased a LH switch from 4into1 for my 550  for around 40 bucks and it doesnt have the "tec" or stamping...also purchased a brand new reproduction starter switch from an unknown seller on ebay, idk how long ill get out of that switch....it was around 40 bucks as well, but the button orientation and layout was correct for the year. There are some NOS 70's reproduction switches floating around out there, I bought one, looks identical to original switch but no "Tec" or stamping either....i usually buy them when i see them in very good condition because they have a more accurate look.

the first three pics are everett and the last is yamiya... so if u want a good switch buy that.

Apparently the DSS ones for the CB400F have the wrong wiring colours, which doesn't say much for the quality control.

Do any of the aftermarket ones have good quality internals, and if so could they be swapped over into an original Honda body?

The only complaint we have on the DSS CB 400-4F is the off/run/off switch is a weird purplish/pink color. It's been in use since 2018 with no issues.

 The 4into1 right control has extra yellow and yellow/white wires also. I assume for the 400. For a while there were 450 controls available that also had an extra wire or two.
 JT marks has a few options also including one with a black kill knob and double throttle cables.

Right hand switch that has parking light switch is useful.
Then use a reflector with parking bulb.
Off- Parking-Head light.
HI-Lo on left side.
My K6 had that from Honda.

My K2 has Off-Lo-Hi. From 4-1. Switch indexing is fine on both sides.

It should have Parking-Lo-Hi.
Light On-Off on left side via an additional thin switch.
I have NOS switches not yet used.

I decided to purchase a Genuine Honda part instead of the 'remakes' on 4into1. P/N 35130-377-P00

I had read about the purple switch but didn't mind because I wanted to use my original switch with patina to match the bike. The switch works fine.. but I was dismayed to notice upon arrival, in small print on the Honda part label on the package: "Made in China"


I guess this is getting relatively common?

4into1 is a Chinese operation in the Bay area. I wouldn’t put it past them to make their own labels. Ya gotta be careful with 4into1.

If Honda has the part I'll buy from South Sound Honda online or JT Marks on ebay.

This was purchased from Everett Powersports on eBay, who I've had good luck with for genuine honda parts, instead of going through 4into1. I think it's legitimate and known that some of these Honda parts are being made in China, which doesn't necessarily mean it's the same quality as the aftermarket remakes, but it certainly didn't make me feel great about paying up for the genuine part.

Not all Chinese parts are junk. They can build good quality stuff but they are masterful at squeezing profit out of whatever they build. They can build to a quality level of fit and finish, it is up to the company ordering to have the quality parameters set for operational requirements, tolerances, and construction to product quality components. The mechanical and electrical specs have to be there. The testing procedures have to be there, the inspection of produced goods have to be there…
Honda has to sample the produced parts and ensure they are meeting the specs they gave before accepting the parts and putting them in their distribution chain to the dealers and customers.

So, don’t give up hope that you are getting a bad part because it is coming from China. Don’t assume a part from Japan is always going to be better…you have better odds of that being true, but not a given.
I don’t like buying stuff made from China, they aren’t a friend and they do make a lot of crappy junk.

Are Honda's newer "Made in China" switches really better than the aftermarket switches for half price or even less?

 I swapped a 76F to a 4into1  K4 headlight switch, the wiring threw me for a loop until I realized the wiring bundle didn't have the little metal tab that holds everything in place and the switch had been tugged out of place causing it to ground.  I took the tab out of an old switch to put one in, but there wasn't a hole drilled for the screw.

JT Marks sells a replica switch that is better quality than typical. So, apparently the quality of the replicas varies too and are not all coming out of the same factory.
