Avon roadrider alternative

Seems like these tires are impossible to find, i saw somewhere they stopped making or selling them. They felt and looked great, does anyone here know of sport tires that are similar to the avons? Or where I can find a set? I run 18 inch f/r 100/90 and 120/90.

It has been hard to find those tires. Avon is closing its last factory in the Uk sometime this year. I also liked those tires. I have been using Shinko 712 on all of my vintage bikes since I cannot find the Avons

Yeah it sucks, we have Avon's on over half of our bikes. I really like them and they had the sizes for old bikes. We thought we would be able to get them for a long time after they came out with the Roadrider II's but that's what we get for thinking.  ???

I like Bridgestone BT46 tires.  They are available in a large number of sizes, including  100/90-18 and 120/90-18.  They are also available in the stock inch size for a number of classic bikes: 3.25-19 and 4.00-18.

I've ridden bikes with Roadriders and BT-46s, and I like the Bridgestones better for spirited canyon riding.

Good to know. I like Stones on my 08 wing because of the way they handle in the spirited twisties I ride.
I'll have to order a set for my K5.

Michelin Road Classic can be an alternative.
https://www.michelinman.com/motorcycle/tires/michelin-road-classic?tyreSize=19

Front available in 100/90-19 and 3.25-19

Rear 4.0-18 as stock 2.15 rim need.
120/90-18 need a wider rim.

My K6 has 100/90-19 front on a 2.15" rim
130/80-18 rear on a 3.0" rim.
Feels OK so far.

Front almost new, rear used 4500km and probably 2000km left.
Dyno runs have carved some rubber. I have a new rear waiting to be used. I'm sure it will survive longer and not flattened by dyno.

Here is a list of tires that are available in the US, in 3.25-19 and 4.00-18, the stock sizes for many vintage bikes:

•   Bridgestone Battlax BT46
•   Metzeler Lasertec
•   Michelin Road Classic
•   Michelin Pilot Activ
•   Avon AM26 Roadrider
•   Metzeler Sportec Klassic
•   Avon Roadrider MKII

Of these, I found that the Bridgestones are usually the lowest priced.  A few weeks ago I bought a set from Chaparral for $114 - front and $140 - rear, with free shipping.

THe Avon Roadrider MK11 is the newer version, with I believe with something like 34 different sizes with some being a F/R tire option depending on the orientation. In reading the Avon blurb on these later versions, they list a number of improvements over the original Roadrider tires.

Is there something you don't like about these ones vs the original Roadrider tires?
