Ok last weekend I ran a couple quarts of E10 87 octane with a T or two of Marvel Mystery oil in each quart. Had resigned to having to ultrasonic clean carbs but the 2 quarts seemed to smooth things up decent, runs and idles decent.

During the week I got new wiring harness made up for windjammer using a DEUTSCH connector. 50 year old vetter plug was toast.

Today was another big day, 230a alarm, 330a  work clock in, 1030 work clock out.

Pulled front wheel, pried 30 year tire off. Cleaned rim with 4.5” grinder and aggressive wire brush cup wheel. Installed new rim strip, tube, and tire. Reinstalled wheel.
Had groceries loaded in car at mao mart. Removed rear wheel, pried off 30 year old tire. Cleaned rim, installed new rim strip, tire, and tube. Reinstalled wheel, lubed chain.

Assembled front brake caliper with red rubber grease and new pads, bled front brakes. 5pm it was supper and now it is break time.

I think so :-). Left work at 10pm Friday night too, clocked back in at 330a and we got some stuff done :-).

The 30 year old front tire kicked my *ss lol, glad I did that part first :-). I put it on 30 years ago but darned if I remember any details. Kinda remember putting the rear on back then because it was double some weird stuff not wanting to center up on the rim very well.

I’d like to build or have built a set up aluminum rims spoked like original.

Did you know that you can still get the Vetter electrical stuff? I replaced mine a few years back, it still had the original 1972 6-pole connector it came with. At the 'Jammer II this became the more common 9-pole version.

I found a webpage that listed some stuff but all of it was out of stock. The Deutsch stuff is SO nice, there is no comparison :-).




So many nice features to those connectors, being able to easily remove a wire and terminal for example. I bought a kit of 10' wire colors from amazon, used Lavender for RH turn signal to avoid ordering light blue by itself, but I can easily sub in a light blue wire later on.

These crimpers work OK, I have a better set on order at work using my annual tool allowance, the crimp tool buy in is the worst part of Deutsch, the actual Deutstch brand tool is like $300...the pretty good knock off on order is $180, the one linked is $40.

Wiregarage has High Temp GXL Cross-Link XLPE Stranded Wire which is some really nice stuff.

Still waiting on 3.5mm crimp on bullets, I think I am going to butt splice onto the old wires for now.

Installed new supposedly genuine Honda fuel petcock using two fiber washers from EBay and new button head stainless M6x1.0 screws. Installed new fuel lines.

Wired bike side of the new windjammer plug. Just did a temporary job using domestic crimp on bullets to join the original bullet connector until the correct 3.5mm connectors come.

Added fuel, turned on petcock. Oops we have a leak due to improper 1/4” fuel line. Only leak was at petcock on one line. Ordered proper 5.5mm line. Used a zip tie for today.

Fired up and rode up town and filled fuel tank.

Not running quite right yet but did run around the mile square about 12 miles worth. Not idling properly and part throttle is rough. WOT flat out in Mexico hit 90, normal is 100 with the jammer.

Oil pressure light works, neutral, high, and turn indicators not working. Turn signals no flash too. Quickly subbed in a new “led flasher” still no flash, turn signal lights just solid on. Still have incandescent bulbs but had bought the LED flasher thinking I wanted to install LED bulbs.

Need to review the wiring diagram a bit.

Pulled sediment bowl and it was immaculate so the tank cleaning was a success. Left it empty, will check it tmw to see if anything is leaking past shut off petcock.

Went back out later to tinker a little more. Checked and cleaned pilot jets, one float valve was stuck closed. Freed it, runs a lot better but still not 100%. Quick trip to mexico netted 100mph flat out so nothing seriously wrong overall. That float needle it's spring loaded tip is seized so ordered new genuine Honda flat valves. Going to dig into wiring this week.

Made up a test harness to allow checking vetter wiring with jammer removed.









Got the high beam indicator working and the turn signal indicator working on the top clamp. Still no Neutral light. Still no flash with turn signals on. I had bought new "repro" controls but they are just crap quality wise, cannot see using them.

Indeed bulb is bad. And on the turn signals after some head scratching I discovered that the control is an aftermarket one with a mystery second button fastened to the bottom of it, and when you hold down that button THEN the turn signals flash. reading a few other threads here led me to unplug the flasher and discover that the turn signal bulbs still lit meaning circuit was getting 12VDC from somewhere other than the flasher. That control has TWO grey wires, unplugging the extra one lets the turn signals work as they should.

Well I live in the NW corner of OH, IN and MI are only 10 miles away so the trip to Mexico is strictly a mental one LOL. Referring to testing in Mexico is a YouTube kinda inside joke :-).

Got it..ha!   Been to your part of the country on a bike trip years ago, stopped at the Indiana Dunes for a rest on the sand...was really beautiful.

yeah, that button is unique to k2 bikes

Frequent check of blinkers off to avoid collisions will take 2-3 sec of my control when riding.

My K2 got that left hand control. My K6 never had the off button.
Buzzer off while pressing. Cars in front of me hear the signal and wonder what that is. Practical to press the button.

New 5.5mm fuel line arrived yesterday, and an Amazon ignition switch. Installed fuel lines, all good there. Ignition switch was not correctly wired. Tail lights worked when switch was set to park but on “ignition” headlight didn’t work. I just soldered a wire from black to the other two wires meaning the switch connects red to the other 3 wires. Switch works.

Bike still not running quite right. Has something like a miss cruising at 4K rpm. Only way to describe it is it seems like every now and then a cyl does not fire and there is a pop in exhaust. Seems great WOT. I have new genuine Honda #40 slow jets coming and genuine Honda float valves. At least one float valve the spring loaded plunger was locked up.

Also have new eBay 5ish ohm coils that take plug on wires, and new genuine spark plug caps, need to get to NAPA to get copper core wire and the terminals and boots for the coil end of the wires.

Kind of want to work through things one at a time to solve the miss or whatever it is rather than throw a bushel of parts at once.

When the slow jets and float valves come I’ll put those in, and pull main jet emulsion tubes and make sure they are clean. Had cleaned slow jets already. No sense in using clear tube to check float levels til new float valves are in.

Points and condensors are Honda parts from the early 90's, they look nice, gap is correct.

Ordered some copper core plug wire, distributer terminals, and boots from NAPA online. The local store does not stock any of that stuff anymore. $23 for 10' of wire, 8 terminals, and 8 boots
