By chance does anyone have timing instructions for a Prestolite ignition?

Member Terry seems to know a little about that brand. To be honest I don't think he holds them in very high regard. Might want to se a PM.

Doesn't the Prestolite use the stock advance unit? If so, make an educated guess and start the bike, then check the timing with a strobe.

Just looking to see what the original instructions might offer scottly. I set up the air gap first, but had to change to get one  side to time, then 2/3 was out.

It's a simple unit using the stock advance unit with a replacement cam.

After several attempts with electronic systems on my racebike, I'm sick to death of some brands. I removed the Prestolite in 2008 after 30 years of trouble free use in favor of an expensive POS that was horrible. Then the bike was stored for several years. Getting it back out and hoping for some reliable use again.

I found the (old) original instructions, funny how much hoarding a shop can manage.

The airgap plays a bigger key in timing than I could certainly remember.

Thanks for your attention, should be good now!

Let us know how it goes, Brent.  Happy to hear of the ol' race bike getting back out!

Don't lose the instructions again. I have one of those hiding in my shop 'somewhere' and may need to ask a question or two of you. Hope you get her running good !

Drop a copy of a scan or a photo of the instructions into this thread. Then you can pull it up out of the thread as needed.
