Welcome aboard the forum from southern NH
I'm sorry for the passing of your dad. I know that most likely miss him. It's good that you have the memories of riding his bike.
I still miss my dad after 32 years, but remember the great times we had together. I remember getting to ride in front of him on the old Allstate Vespa scooter he rode to work on in the early 60s, standing on the floorboards in the wind at @ 4 years old. My dad also was a Marine, during WWII(Tarawa to Okinawa island hopping, wounded twice) and he was a DI for the Guards during Korea. My dad helped me to buy my 1st bike a new 1974 CB450. He bought a used CB350 to ride after my purchase and we got to go on a few rides together. After I sold the 450 and got my 750 the next year, he upgraded to a 1974 CB550.
Your dad's CB550 has good bones and thankfully it isn't frozen, add some oil in the plug holes, like Hondaman Mark tells of in the screenshot below, to lube the rings and valves while you do some cleaning and attending to the rusted parts and clean the carbs. They are a fun bike with good weight to power ratio. I look forward to your bringing it back to life and sharing it with us. Have a blast doing it.
