IKON Shocks in CANADA
« on: May 20, 2023, 05:56:57 PM »
Walridge Motors in LUCAN, ONTARIO, CANADA is the Canadian Distributor for IKON Shocks. They are very well known (and well respected) for their British vintage motorcycle parts, but supply all kinds of other stuff too. See photo for details, or visit their website.

Which series shock did you guys go with?
Basix, chrome dial a ride, or the aluminum dial a ride?

This USA link says there are different weight rate springs available but there isn't an option for selecting a weight rating, just add to cart.....

You want to buy the versions that are rebuildable, the cheapest versions of old I believe cannot be rebuilt, but the newer Basix can be.
If a shock can mean the difference between maintaining good tire contact when you need to be able to stop or avoid an object then it helps maximize traction and can mean the difference in avoiding a wreck or damage to the bike. So, the initial price might sting it makes up for it by riding enjoyment and safety in my book.

All 3 series are rebuildable. That is why I'm asking which model each person has used and results........

https://www.ikonsuspensionusa.com/product/ikon-dial-a-ride-7610-1296/

7610-1296

The 204 spring that comes with it is a bit stiff for my weight class at ~140lbs as it’s rated for 180lbs+, but for city and local riding the softest load and dampening performs really well for me.

Edit to add lower spring rates that a ikon rep gave me:
For a compliant, comfortable ride quality, go for the code 249 tri-rated 11/16/22 N/mm
For a slightly firmer, more sporty ride quality, go for the code 230 tri-rated 15/21/26 N/mm
For comparison, the 'stock' fitted code 204 spring is rated 18/25/33 N/mm

Call Ikon USA, and talk to Roger.  He'll set you up with the correct springs.

There is a biz called Stadium Suspension here in Quebec that specializes in all types of suspension components. Thierry is the owners name and he speaks perfect English, if that helps. They have done good work for me, hence the recommendation. For anyone in the NorthEast give them a look-see, tell him I sent you.

I paid obscene money for a set of Racetech piggybacks for my racebike, and they were valved way too heavy. Stadium solved that issue, and if I'd have found them earlier would have had them build me a comparable set for half the dosh. Since then they've rebuilt a couple sets of my Works Performance too.

The days of buying rear shocks and running them for 25 yrs is over!
