Carb question, 78 CB750A

Does this jet needle remove from the top or the bottom.  How important is it. Should I worry about changing it out.

 I believe it may be pushed out the bottom with a wooden dowel, I'd leave as much original brass as possible.

It pushes out from the top and rarely needs to be changed.

I spray some solvent or WD40 into the emulsifier chamber (with the carb upside-down) and let it sit a little while, then push it out (down) from the top.
A word of caution: use a pencil or dowel, not a steel tool, unless you have first ground the steel tool to fit inside the little hole. I clean so many of these carbs that I have made 2 steel ones, but wood or plastic won't hurt it.
