after a rebuild ive placed old hard drive magnets on them,i switch them onto the new filters and watch as the debris deminishes,even as you go years they still attract minute metal,lot to be said for magnetic filtration.

RevZilla has a shop series of videos with Ari Henning and Ari showed that he used and liked a magnetic drain plug as well as a donut magnet that fit between the filters and mounting surface that was thin enough to not interfer with the spin on filters he used. Never seen the ring or donut style before and haven't found a source. Not useful if using stock cartridge filter on our bikes, but would be useful on my modern bike.

 I bought a couple magnetic drain plugs today from 4-1. A magnetic plug saved my race engines twice, once a mini frost plug looking thing that came out of our oil pump was on the magnet and another time a small bolt came out of the valvetrain and made it's way into the crankcase. Dinged a couple Manley H beam rods and the bottom of a cylinder. It too was on the drain plug, $3K damage instead of $15K.

After a few E mail discussions, I understand Rock Auto intends to re-sell these to someone else as correct. They insist I am at fault for ordering the wrong items. I am done with them, I believe I have kawasaki filters, maybe I can donate them to a kz guy.

The same oilfilters on our CB Fours (and Goldwings) are used by a wide variety of Kawasaki models.

 Well, today I tried one of these thicker filters on a 750 engine and it went on with some tightening, I'l leave it there a bit and check to see if I've crushed the filter media if it isn't, the cb obviously has more tolerance than the GL.

I had a bunch of Hi-Flo filter before.  A shame I did not find one now. Plus other strange Japan made filters I bought from Yamiya a few years ago.

I like to have such stuff in stock as motor oil, throttle, clutch, speedo and tacho cables. And some boxes of plugs.

I bought 4-5 US gallons of Spectro Heavy Duty 20W-50 2 years ago .

I noticed that I had  2-3 gallons left so visited same seller early this year to buy more before price rallye as everything else nowadays.

Holy sh!t, price +50%!!! >$60US/gallon + shipping
So happy I ordered when price was good.

I ordered 10 pack K&N filters from Germany for a good price. Lower shipping each when ordering more.

Engine builds consume some oil and filters when just restored.

I have some good priced 4L Eurol Motor oil too, mineral as synthetic 
I use my stock of Red Line and Spectro as ZDDP additive to 2L Eurol at each change.
My K6 made over 10.000 km last year so 3 changes.

Not too rich carbs now so 5000km intervals can work as long as oil feels good.

Anyway, the too long filter must be a filter to other engines.
A mystery to be solved.

Spectro HD mineral 20W-50 is a good oil and looked ok even after 5600km in my K2. I planned to change 1000km earlier but Franks rides 2023 let that happen quick.

Finding neutral when warm still worked OK.
Other lower priced oils not much lower when delivered.
Spectro is a good oil that the market must have noticed and price adjusted up.

 The offending 24940 filter does in fact fit on a cb750, I removed it today and it's not crushed in the least. It still does not fit on a gl1000. That said, I now find 24940 and 24937 Wix and K&N 401 all listed for both bikes, most Hondas, a lot of Kawasaki and a Triumph or two.
 I can draw no reasonable conclusion except there are production tolerances (the spring) that allow multiple filters to fit a lot of bikes but not all of those fit my gl1000 even though they are listed to fit.

Oil filter thread a good one, Don!
Most threads here will end up in very good information regardless how they started.
This one started very well.

Different sizes of the filters good to be aware of.

I was sure that Emgo filter was crap that could fall apart, but good experience showed up.

I used a filter 9 days ago on my K2.  Filter mayb from Yamiya years ago.
Finally a filter with o-ring not too thin. This was even slightly thicker, 4.6mm.

The oil bolt o-ring got Viton 15x2.5mm with tighter fit, outwr as inner.
Same as used on CB750 oil lines to engine.
Less oil weap at front after that on my K6
 I had plans to pull engine on my K6 to reseal cases.
Filter o-rings the worst reason.

I have a bunch of 79x4.5mm o-rings since filters usually have no or too thin.

ill post measurements tomorrow,ryco is a well known name here in filters,these come with two big o rings,thick n thin,plus looks like a bolt o ring lets hope?,these are 15 bucks here.

ive used these meiwa filters for ages,i bought about 8 of them once,last one left now,the meiwa is 55mm long and the ryco is similar at 54mm,the meiwa inside has large perforated holes and the ryco has punched sort of flutes?(i removed the ryco rubber for a better shot),the thick o ring is 4.4mm,the thin one is 3mm.
