EC 530 SRX (O ring) chain piece

I bought new sprockets, but they weren't the same tooth count as my 16/48 combination. 17/49 teeth on the new ones ended up needing a longer chain than I have (104 links on the custom AMEN Savior frame from 1974). So, I'm trying to find somebody who has either an offset link (link and a half) for this chain (I have both clip and rivet master links), or a section of this chain of like six links so I can cannibalize it. Anyone have such items? How about suggestions on 530 chain other than EK I'd be able to use for the extension?

For those with the AMEN Savior frame, I've pulled all the hardware for adjustment off and slid the axle all the way forward. The old chain (still in excellent shape) just meets in adjacent teeth so I can put a master link on. The problem is all the adjustment hardware needs to go back in so I can adjust to proper tension. Hence the need for a section of chain to match the O ring 530.

Engine cases are expensive, chains are cheap, buy a new chain.

I would continue to run the 16/48 combination until the chain needs replaced, then switch to the 17/49 with a new/longer chain.

I have lots of experience with industrial chains and the half links are always the first thing to fail, they IMHO are inherently weaker than the rest of the chain.

Buy a new chain in correct lenght.
Find another bike for the chain you have ;)

That’s pretty much my experience with half links, industrial, and agricultural chain…

However SALTS 7 inch and up pitch half links will handle just about all the torque you can find for 5000+ hours…😇
Doubt a CB would even roll it over though..

Thanks for the replies.

I don't want to use a half link but haven't been able to find a short length of this EK 530 SRX to chop to the correct length with the rivet links to make a standard strength drive chain. Although I agree the 16/48 sprockets would be the best consideration, I didn't find them to buy through the local Honda shop, hence my problem in the first place.

I'm about ready to order a 530 single chain and drop the O ring model for now until I get rich enough to afford one again.

I'm still open to finding a length of chain to fix the issue if any of ya'll have one to offer. Cheers.

Okay, I misunderstood. I got the impression you were replacing sprockets in an effort to change the final drive ratio, not that the original sprockets were worn out. So you are going to run the old worn out chain on new sprockets, or did you buy a new chain of the same length as the original to run on larger sprockets? You can compare the cost of a new chain vs another set of sprockets. Sprocket specialists can do just about any tooth count you can imagine:

In the world of mechanical engineering the combination 16/48 is not recommended because 3x16=48 and the same links and teeth will meet often. 

Not sure how much it matters for a motorcycle secondary chain. I think I am running 17/48.

I’ve ran the Honda double shouldered 17 with a 45 on a nearly stock 76f with a 130/70/17 rear wheel for years on the freeway..Never had power issues on hills. The F does have a little different trans ratios though..

It'll matter allright, but not so much... remember Honda started the 750 line with a 15-45 toothcount themselves, and yes, they DID change that (several times)....

Yes, rear wheel is part of it too.
I have stock 4.0-18 and 130/80-18
Smaller rear wheel might need smaller rear sprocket or bigger front if using less than 18.

RK and Regina both make chain in excess of 11,000 and 10,000 tensile strength respectively.
You’ll pay more than cyclex price though..
