Some may recall that I purchased my K1 750 new in 1971. Somewhere along the line, many years ago, one of my side cover emblems (Emblem, B) was replaced with one of "the other color". The trouble is, I don't remember which emblem was replaced or which color was the original color. I've searched but I can't find any early pictures of my bike that clearly show the original side cover emblems.
My research seems to indicate that RED emblems were used on all K1s... As per the CB750/CB750K1/CB750K2 Parts List...

And, as per the 4into1 website...

But that may not tell the whole story. As I look at my emblems and side covers, the right side oil tank cover has a YELLOW emblem, facing the correct way, and is fastened with what look to be the original Honda speed nut fasteners. My left side Battery Cover, has a RED emblem, facing the wrong way, and is fastened with what looks to be the remnants of silicone adhesive/sealant. This anecdotal evidence, seems to suggest that the YELLOW emblems were original on my 1971 K1.
Did Honda, perhaps install different color side cover emblems on bikes with different factory paint options? My 1971 CB750 K1 was originally the Candy Ruby Red Color. Could my K1 have come from the factory with YELLOW side cover emblems? Or did all K1s come with RED side cover emblems.?
Thanks! ZT
