So I have been on the board since Feb 2022 but never did an introduction...
I have been messing with motorcycles since a was a teenager - 1960's. Back then I had a couple Honda 90's. Then in high school I got my dream bike - a previously enjoyed 1968 CL350 Scrambler. We used to do a lot of trail riding, hill climbs, etc. The CL wasn't the best for those but I loved the way the bike looked. Then in 1969 the world stood still when Honda introduced the CB750. I was getting ready to go to college and didn't have the money anyway. In the mid '70's I bought a Yamaha RD350 and had that for about 20 years. (I never should have sold it!!) But ever since then I had thought and dreamed of one day maybe getting a CB. In the fall of 2021 that dream became a reality while I was wintering in Florida. It was a 1970 K0. And was done with the blue-green candy. I still had a couple months to go on my stay in Florida so I had the bike shipped home. My neighbor met the delivery and put the bike in my garage. I had to wait until March to see the bike again. The bike is significant because 1970 is the year I graduated and my favorite color is blue. And because of what the bike is and represented to me and motorcycle history. 1969 was a great time to be alive. The motorcycles and cars were awesome! This bike was restored with OEM parts, re-chroming, etc. I have corrected and changed a few things. Things I have done...
* Discovered that the front fork seals had been installed upside down.
* Installed Zerk fittings in the swing arm.
* Rebuilt the carbs with Yamiya jets and Honda floats.
* Installed 19 tooth front sprocket and 43 tooth rear sprocket and new chain.
* Installed Hondaman's electronic ignition box.
* Changed the front brake pads from metallic back to OEM to eliminate squeal.
* Rerouted throttle cable to the correct Honda routing to eliminate binding and improve response.
* Added oil pressure gauge.
I also have a Harley Sportster that I picked up around 2016 to get back into motorcycles. I'm learning for the first time and relearning what I had forgotten along the way. I just like tooling around, working on and enjoying motorcycles - especially the CB750. The bike is gorgeous. The lines are amazing. I am tickled as all get-out to finally own and enjoy one. Thank you to the group for being welcoming and patient with my questions. You all have been a tremendous help. I could not have done what I have without the information and guidance that the group has provided!
