Clean the clips with some Deoxit and a brass .17 cal gun cleaning brush and it should get you by for a bit.

That looks like some interesting stuff, I'll have to try it.

Dennis - that's rad!  Thanks so much for sharing that with me.  There were obviously a few modifications to the wiring from before so I wanted to see what this looked like and couldn't quite grasp it all.  Big difference with yours and how the wires were just jammed into mine.  Huge thanks!

Quick question - my fuse block is also open like that, do they have a cover that fits over them like I see in a lot of the aftermarket ones?

Gentlemen (are there any lady CB750 riders/owners?) - wondering if anyone can tell me what I'm looking at here.  Obviously this is someone's shorthand wiring but I'm confused by what I'm seeing.  Doing a bit of research it is maybe the contact breaker wiring?  But if so the colors on the wiring diagram do not match what I have.

I have my wiring harness loom out and compared to the new one and they are identical but now I'm noticing this wiring off the rear brake side that I can't quite put reconcile with the wiring harness.  Everything is still out so I can compare and I'm taking it slow and visualizing everything before I make a move but this bit was confusing so I thought I'd poll the audience.

Another question - in the second photo you can see they basically wrapped bare wires around a bullet connector of another wire (not good).  As I have bullet connectors I can salvage from the other wiring harness is there any concern with taking a good bullet connector off the old harness, cleaning it up, and rewiring it that way or would that be a bad idea?

Maybe it was added for electronic ignition?

There's where I added a wire for mine.

Dennis - I had not even thought to look but lo and behold there is a Dynatec S Ignition system there.  Doing a little research it looks like they for some reason twisted the black (key on wire) into the other wires.  I will have to do a bit more research to fully understand it but looks like some good YouTube videos describing what they attempted to do.

Yeah, you can salvage used bullets, but it is not ideal.  To do this in the past I would splice the wires with solder (takes practice) and then heat shrink over it.  Ideal would be to source new bullets and the proper ratcheting crimper  (also takes practice but less than soldering)
If it works good, it looks good...

The result will not be OEM but here is what I intend to use for mine.

I have Marks ignition box and proper install of the linked plugs will still allow me to unplug his box and plug the points and condensor back in.

This crimper here works pretty good with the terminals included in the kit linked above.

Looks like VintageConnectors and SparckMoto are the same company and both are out of town until first week in August.  So guess I'll move on to something else while I wait for them to get back.

I may go ahead and see what I can get out of salvaging one of the old connectors.  I understand it's not ideal but either way I have to wait so if it works then okay and I know I need to eventually replace it, or I wait anyway until they return in a couple weeks.  Can't hurt.  The old wiring harness and some spare wire allows me to practice crimping and maybe even some soldering before I do it right.

In the mean time I still have some other stuff I can knock out.  Marathon, not a sprint.

For sure, even twisting wires together and taping works in a pinch...just fix it right before you get stranded somewhere

So generally speaking is there any difference between the 3.9mm and 3.5mm connectors?  I took a look at both harnesses and at the electronic ignition and it appears as if the ignition connectors use the 3.9mm male connectors and they maybe stretched/opened the female connectors on the wiring harness to accommodate the larger diameter connectors.  When I get the new connectors I ordered is there anything wrong with just changing out the 3.9mm with 3.5mm so I've got the same size connectors throughout?

Stretched 3.5 to 3.9 will work, but the contact is not going to be as good as 3.5 to 3.5 bullet connector would be... Changing them to all be 3.5mm is the way to go.

Thanks!  I figured that was the case but wanted to make sure just in case there was something unique about those wires/sizes/etc.

Gents - Good morning all.  Hope you've all had a great weekend.

So yesterday (all my troubles seemed so far away..) I spent a lot of the day doing some small jobs while I wait for the necessary electrical connections/connectors to come in.  Mainly I was going to try to figure out where there is sooo much duct tape on various hoses and wires on this bike.  Anyway I found that my breather hose (from the crankshaft case (?), top of engine) had duct tape on it so I decided to find out why and sure enough it was two pieces of 3/8" hose joined together and taped up.

Now I did a lot of reading on these forums last night to try to figure out how the hose was supposed to be routed.  Seems like historically this has been a hot topic.  So I'll not contribute to it further and just re-do what was there before...but I have some questions on the hose itself.

What was on my bike was 3/8" SAE hose connected to the top of the engine by a standard screw clamp like you'd use in a number of other applications.  I can from CMSNL that the clamp is wrong but what about the hose diameter?  I cannot find any information on what it should be only that it is called a breather hose.  Is 3/8" the right diameter and does anyone have any other hose recommendations since I'm going to replace it?  Would heater hose from an auto parts hose work?

A good Honda dealer parts person will be able to see the correct OEM hose for the breather on his screen and order it for you,if it's still available;either way, you'll get a part number to identify the correct size hose.

That's how I did it;I think the minimum they sell is a 4' length of it.

Can anyone tell me which way the front sprocket is supposed to set?  It has a flat side and a raised side.  The CMSL diagram appears to show the flat side being out (facing away from motor) but I watched a video on someone working on a CB750 and his was oriented the opposite way.
