Hi,
About 6 years ago I picked up a 72' cb500 barn bike that didn't come with much but a title for $100 bucks. I purchased it initially for the 4-1 exhaust that was on it....this was early in my motorcycle phase and was my second purchase ever.
A year or two owning the bike I ended up trading it to my buddy for helping me pull my transmission out of my Silverado and yesterday he finally finished it...He is more of a BWM guy, has multiple custom airheads and a new 850 gs.
I've basically provided most of the random missing parts needed for this and helped a little on assembly and dialing stuff in but we got it to idle and finally ride yesterday.
he rebuilt the motor, twice, the carbs a few times, the front forks were rebuilt, new shocks, sourced original tank badges, small lithium battery, custom electric tray, custom seat, hooped frame, LED rear tail and signals with plate mount, rock guard, pod filters, new cables and grips, led headlight, carbs balanced and tuned, newish tires...he did pretty good for his first honda lol.
I took it out on the road yesterday ingot through all gears and up to about 65 in a 35.
We bought a sewing machine a while ago and thats the first seat he cranked out....total, the build took about 5 years fiddling with it bouncing between different shops/ sitting in the corner of the garage.
Here are some pics...going back to 2017.
Depending on how he likes riding it he may pull it apart and paint everything before he sells it, but he is going to sell it.
