This may be well known to some of you readers, but I thought I would share my experiences trying to cure a low speed stutter/miss on my 76 F1 CB750.
Lately my bike had been missing at low revs when I open the throttle to speed up or just coming out of a corner. It only missed once then picked up and ran clean again, and if I accelerate hard it did not miss at all.
Several times I had pulled the carb chambers off and run a jet drill through both the pilot and main jet, but it did not make any difference.
So on the weekend I pulled all the jets out and cleaned them, but they were fine in the main holes. However this time as I had the needle and pilot jets out, I cleaned out the holes on the side which I found were partially blocked with a yellow dust/mud.
Fortunately I have a complete set of jet drills (which are used by hand to clean out the jets)
The result was amazing as far as being able to open the throttle at any revs. A much cleaner and more powerful pick up all through the rev range.
