Ignition pick up wire
« on: July 20, 2023, 06:26:50 PM »
Have a CB 750 K2 where the pick up ignition wiring from the condensers going back has a frayed cover.  Don’t believe it was ever sold separately from the entire plate.

Anyone have a source for the cloth cover or the entire wire unit?
Have seen used set ups on EBay but they all are heavily soiled or frayed.

Not sure if it will fit more than a single wire but DrATV.com used to see the points wire cover separately.

I believe you are correct. I found some at a local Electrical Supply, but it was black. I ended up buying the entire points plate, cond., etc to freshen up the one on my K0!

After some thought, I purchased Mark Paris’s electronic ignition recently but it is still in the box.  If installed, will I not need that pick up wire any longer from the points any longer?

IMHO no you will not. He provides plenty of wire. You will have a green wire to add to the blue and yellow that now go into the breaker plate area. I just zip tied it to the existing loom that you are inquiring about. But it would be nicer if it would fit inside that braided outer sleeve.

Appreciate that.  Not sure which product I am looking for.  The list is pretty long.

Do you have one of theirs?  How does it compare with the stock cover?  The stock item looks like a cotton cover.

Totally understand and wasn’t trying to get a deal.  Just looking for compatibility on fit and color.

Spend the money and just get a new points plate assembly with the wire from Honda.
