Kill Switch Numbers
« on: July 21, 2023, 07:57:36 AM »
I'm trying to diagnose a no-spark issue and was looking at the kill switch as a possible source of the problem.

My continuity test of the kill switch with a multimeter yielded the following:

ignition off - 0 in all positions

ignition on - 1 in Run position; 4.15 in both Off positions

Not being one that understands the magic of electricity, can someone please tell me if these readings indicate a switch that is working or not.

Thanks.

Sounds more like you’re taking an Ohms reading versus a simple continuity test. I’d be more interested in voltage readings with the switch moved through the positions. You should see above 12.4v when in the RUN position with key ON.

+1. I like to check the voltage on the power lead, at the ignition coils. That feed comes through the switch and you essentially check the entire circuit.
