K8-Seat opening hits the left side cover
« on: July 25, 2023, 05:22:01 PM »
For K7/8 folks, when you open the seat, does the edge of the seat hit / rest on top of the left side cover?

Not sure if this is just an aftermarket side cover issue or not, but I might put my old OEM side cover back on to see if it hits.

The seat hitting my new side cover has marred the new paint.

Mine basically clears fine, but just touches at the front side cover end. Check the seat stop at the rear hinge as it may be at fault; you can modify it if need be to reduce the seat swing angle and save your paint hopefully. I looked at mine and I had installed a 1 inch long piece clear anti-chafe tape on the top forward edge where it just makes contact (Kisses).

Thanks, I'll check to see if I have that seat stop.

I attempted to adjust seat by installing 4 small washers under both brackets (under the seat, on the seat pan).  The brackets that connect the seat to the frame.

This did help a little, but the seat still touches the side cover.

I put the old side cover back on and it hits it as well.
