Bike insurance
« on: July 04, 2023, 07:36:09 AM »
 I've begun shopping for a new insurance co. I was surprised that Progressive appears to be half of what Farmers insurance is costing me. They will give a quote online also.
 I have four bikes plated at the moment, I've fumbled around JC Taylor and Dairyland's web sites but wasn't serious at that time. Any other suggestions in the US?

Hagerty, Allstate, check with an independent insurance agent, they often can get good coverage at lower rates

Hagerty's classic/collector option was willing to insure the 550 for what amounted to lunch money.

I use Progressive. Just got my annual bill. ~$200 for four bikes, liability/pip only.
I really should add comp/collision... ::)
Progressive seems pretty bike-friendly.

Hagerty...the only company I have ever found that truly understands and is tailored to the collector.  They really understand that although you have 5 or whatever bikes that you may want to ride, you can only ride one at a time.

And Hagerty is probably the best bet for insuring a "vintage" vehicle at its true value.
Most of the other insurance agencies just go by the blue book, which can be wildly inaccurate for older vehicles.

 I saw a web site that said after 3 or 4 bikes, no additional cost. I can't find that one again.

You guys make me jealous. Insurance up here keeps lots of folks from actually riding a motorcycle. It’s painful.

I also have Haggerty Insurance. 5 bikes and 2 MG's for $400 a year full coverage and agreed value on all of them. And because the 77' Kawasaki KZ 1000LTD and 84' Honda VF 700S have been in the family since new they are legacy bikes. If they get totaled I get my agreed value and I get the bike back free and clear.

That's a great deal, as long as you have secured storage Haggerty is the way to go.

I've used J.C Taylor Insurance for many years.  They specialize in vintage vehicles at agreed-to values, and tend to cost less than Haggerty.  Their customer service is excellent as well.

  They specialize in vintage vehicles at agreed-to values...

That is key to any valuable vintage bike or car, insure it for what it's value is [or more!].
That said, I've used Dairyland for years and my rates actually went down the last time I renewed, I was shocked.
