Hey Guys,

I apologize if this is a stupid question I am new to the world of bikes and just started working on a CB650

The forks and front end were bent so I decided it'd be best to just replace the entire triple tree + forks

I have run into a problem where there is a flange or spacer on the steering column and it won't fit through the frame of my1980 CB650

I believe it's a 1981 Honda CB650 Triple Tree Assembly and I assumed it would be the same after some quick searching most people said they'd line up.

My problem is how do you get the spacer off at the top or is it even possible? Also, is it possible to remove the bottom fork holder of the triple tree or is that impossible as well.

Is it even called a spacer or is it the steering bearing? No clue about part names so apologize about the goofiness of context

Went and grabbed the part for better context. Can you remove it or is it a part of the entire column? Would the only option be to buy the column without this Flange? or am I doing something wrong? It's too wide to fit through the head tube of the frame so I'm starting to think the years are just incompatible with each other or am I mistakenly doing something incorrect

The bit you now show is the inner top race and is not supposed to go that far down, it will come off just be carefull not to hit the threads

Got it off! Just had to tap it lightly. Thank you for the help my friend! It was super unclear yesterday as it was dirty and filled with grease but cleaned it up and some WD40 got it to come right off.
