My brother in law works at campgrounds and lives in a 5th wheel camper. His winter employer, west of Phoenix in Tonopah talked him into staying for the summer by building a canopy over his camp space to provide shade. I'm not sure how well it worked out, but he hasn't bailed yet. I saw yesterday it's been well over a hundred all month and often 115 or more.
His "snake trained dog" got bit by a rattler but survived. The snake not so much.
Dogs often can survive rattlesnake bites without treatment.
Pigs love rattlesnakes and can survive multiple bites with no effect. Usually if the snake cannot get away they don't survive, the pig eats them.
While monsoon rains have started finally they have not given much rain in Tucson area. They have knocked out power in many areas with over 50k people affected by one storm last week. Snapping wooden power poles. Tucson Electric Power is replacing them with metal poles. 300 were still without power yesterday from that storm...
So far at 3:53pm it has reached 102F today out in the desert beyond the Tucson Mtns where I live...
Coolest day in over a month or longer. Tucson was suppose to reach 99F and right now that's the temp at the Airport.
Hit 103F at 5pm and airport hit 100
..so much for breaking the streak. Had a good rain storm around sunset...mixed with a strong dust storm at start...
