CB550 project??

I sold my last two Hondas a few years back (CB360, CB750 F1) and came across this '74 CB550.  It's close by and allegedly has a title.  I'm waiting to have the seller provide me with the VIN so I can confirm what it is.  Here's a couple of pictures of the bike.  Looking for a new project.  I think I could get this for ~$300.  Thoughts?

Heck yeah! I wish I could find a local titled bike in the condition for under 800-1000.

You will spend 1000's if you want it original, to get running and ride as is i would say yes

That thing looks like the south end of a northbound polar bear. But if keeping it modded is in the works it's a steal if the engine is free and the title is clear. What tank is that on there?
