You need the tool. 8)
I believe it is made by Lisle Tools, google the number on the side of it.
It goes inside the race and expands so the lip of the tool grabs the back of the race. Then you beat on the tool with a big drift to drive out the race.

This implies that the lower races are not intended to sit flush in there then, I have a very small gap which makes it look like the race is not actually seated. SO I do have the lower installed correctly.

As there is no gap at all behind the outer race there are only 2 methods i know of
1 carefully slot thecrace with a dremel
2 put a ring of weld found the inside to shrink it

With the tool we've never had to do that, even when changing races on the 05' Harley Fatboy that has zero gap between the race and neck.

I used a long bolt with double nuts. A washer sat between the nuts.

Put inside from top, washer hooked in between the lower race and frame. Hammered with a heavy hammer.

Moved around the "tool" with washer and hammered so race could be pushed out.

I used what I had in my garage.
Maybe an  M10 bolt. Can have been an old motorhanger bolt too.

I have a CB750 frame with stock race to be removed. And the other part.

I've used a tiny cut off wheel on a Dremel tool to make a notch above the race. I have a piece of small moly tube cut at an angle on the end to catch the edge.

Lots of cool ideas here!
I once used a very long (i.e. aircraft) drillbit 1/8" size, drilled a hole thru the lower's 'stop' face from above, into the race, then used a long nail to tap (well, bash...) it out. Not ideal.

i dont want to remove it, just was curious how i would if i did  want to remove it. Also, still not sure about if there should be a gap or not, either way it should seat after about 50 miles of riding.

Yeah, but I can return mine for a replacement if it breaks. It also keeps my local parts store in business, eBay and Amazon are both crooked as hell. I don't buy from them if I can help it. I'm fortunate enough to have a real parts store in town. Most things that aren't on the shelf I get the next day without shipping charges that add up quickly.

Everybody is free to do as they want of course. I bought the exact same tool for 15 euro including shipping by alieexpress.  Its nice to have a free market. Many tool suppliers get their stuff the same way. But indeed they have a store to maintain. I'm done  having to pay the top price always for a bit of metal, feels like a ripoff on more than one occasion.

The total price differ where you are located.
Order stuff from USA to be sent to Europe cost much more today due to shipping and currency.

Order from UK was very good before Brexit with very low shipping and no extra customs+VAT which today adds on +30%.

Kelly,I'm sold on quality;I prefer getting an OTC brand #4796 from a quality tool vendor.
I appreciate you speaking with your auto parts store there and ordering me one just like you got for yourself.
I'm hoping to hear from you soon buddy.  ;)

The amount of stress placed on this bearing race remover tool causes me to recognize that if the tool were to break in the middle of the job  :o ,then I would be really 'screwed'   ::) :(
The bottom race up inside the frame has solid contact and the last thing I would need is to be jambed-up with having to order another tool and not be able to use my bike until the tool comes in,etc. I use my bike as my daily driver and keep the car parked.
I always try to purchase quality tools, when and if they're available.   thanks  ;) :)
