Border Collie is super high energy dog and if bored will create their own games to play by themselves if they have too. Herding instinct is so inbred they will herd any other animal, chickens, ducks, just about anything. Very loving dogs and likely to be alpha minded and recognize their owner as an alpha.
They are inventive as well ...

Good for you. We were 8 months without a dog. Life is better with a great companion.
