 Economy right controls may not have a screw and button retainer to hold the switch spring and starter button in.

 I grabbed this M'Fer by its throttle this morning, I used an old cable I found for the pull and the new push which is correct. Then I studied the parts that fell out of the starter switch, re-assembled them in a way that made sense considering it's a two wire start button, connected a ground that it didn't have before when it was working and it now starts the first time every time. I found a broken wire connector in the headlight bucket for the left turn signal indicator light and made up a male x female x female. It's working fine now.
 The only thing left is the neutral light which is either always on or always off with no apparent reason. I'll pull the switch and clean it. The Goldwing ones get carboned up and stay on, usually dimmer than when in actually Neutral.

 I'm thinking flat or satin black and gold pin stripes. The gold tape stripes I had to practice with were all so old, the sticky was gone. I was thinking of using fineline masking tape to assist making a paint pinstripe pulled by hand. I may not be able to pull it off but it's worth a try.

  I went with an old antares red over original yellow tank and tail I've had for a long time. I'll have two more F tanks to sell also.

  I took the F on a mile long test ride, the headlight turns off when I turn left but comes back on when I turn back. Seems legit. The rear disc brake drug a bit but since it got bled again, it seems to brake and release.  The newly softened rubber velocity stacks are miscellaneous sizes and didn't go on, so I rode without the air box.

  The tank nut is seeping at the petcock so I drained the fuel back out. (Used seals)
  I think the headlight problem must be the green wire in the headlight bucket. It goes on and off when turning both on high and low beam so it must be the ground. A PO had used a few large size bullet connectors and  those sockets are stretched out a bit. I'm not very good at re-sizing them.  I got some two and three way connectors with my order of vintage connections so it should be an easy fix.
 
   This thing is starting to remind me of the 76F I sold to buy sandcast parts.

 I cleaned up another neutral switch for the f but couldn't get it to work. I realized it wasn't seating due to the hard o ring. I tried the old one no good either, finally read up on it and measured an o ring out of the harbor freight kit. It measured a little small but popped in like it's snug and now the switch works properly. Hurray!
  We'll see if it leaks now, the rear brake is dragging when pumped up but if I bleed it the pistons retract. I assume that means it's the M/C. I'll try bleeding and flushing again.
  I'm going to try the same trick on the petcock to tank nipple and see if I can make it seal up.

 The petcock sealed up and I cut a timing advancer spring, now the idle doesn't surge but the timing was waaaay off. I dialed it back and now it cranks easier. I'll need to spend some time re-timing and checking the dwell.

 The rear brake has me concerned, there are no kits for the M/C I'll flush it again and hopefully any gunk that's in there shakes loose. I emptied the reservoir before I flushed it so only clean fluid would go in. I also have another 76 disc brake kit so if I find parts I'll get a set.
 Edit, The gl1000 rear caliper kit works, I re-posted a thread on it.

 I siphoned the brake fluid again, sprayed brake clean inside and scrubbed it with scotchbrite. I re-filled and bled it a few times, it's working like new so far. I took it for a ride, it releases good so I'm taking a wait and see approach.
 The carb rubbers should be here in a couple days so then I can pop the airbox on. I really like these F's.  The front end feels heavy in turns, I need to check the neck bearings.

 The airbox top is on, everything is working. I'm missing the hollow bolt for the bottom of the airbox. Fudge. I'll borrow the bottom off of the F'nK it needs trans work anyway. It is getting advertised on marketplace soon.

 It's the F1 with the 392 engine which may be the best all around SOHC4 engine, as fast as the sandcast without the early problems or the 410's soft valve guides.

 I have a pending sale on the F1, the 77 F'nK still needs 5th gear fixed. I may just swap in a different 392 type engine and keep the 77K motor for the big chamber head.

 F1 orange tank. Actually looks better than the pics, I sanded some of the excessive overspray off, the black looked like rust but had orange paint under it.

 The F1 has an enthusiastic owner, he's wondering how long until his wife finds out. He took a windjammer because it was free, has already texted asking about what oil I used.
 The plan for the F'nK is to trade it for shop credit at a machine shop.

  I'm really close to a part out of the f'nK. I have to remember that it would make open floor space if it leaves intact. It does everything well except stay in 5th gear.

 Today I removed the F part from the F'nK I guess that makes it be an F'n K. I'm going to try the A rear fender and see what I have for a grab bar to get turn signals back on it. I have a couple Yamaha turn signals that are the same thread that holds the rear fender to the frame. They might work with or without a grab bar.
