K1 to K0 carb conversion sillyness.

 I recently stumbled across a set of decent 4 cable, K0 carb slides, springs, needles, tops, nuts and 2 complete cables.
  I already have a #1 K0 carb body and was comparing it to some parted out newer round tops. It appears the K1 and newer bodies are cast the same as K0 carbs except the idle set screw holes aren't drilled or tapped. Does that sound plausible?
 Of course, that leads to me wondering if newer parts carb bodies can be drilled and tapped, 3 more idle screws with springs procured and Voila!  One more set of hard to adjust 4 cable carbs in the world!
   If it worked, a guy could cut down the stock K1 mount plate or just buy the K0 new replacement plate off ebay for $80.

I would say it's possible.  I have somewhere in my stash stainless steel idle set screws I made for Dorothy - meaning the thread is some common metric - M4 or M5.

The k1 slide guides are opposite k0 guides, more work then just taping idle screw holes.

Going to 4 cables seems to be a recipe for a lot of headache keeping them in synch.

 Of course the only good reason to do this would be to have correct appearing carbs on my K0, cheaply.
 I appreciate the slide guide information.  I knew it couldn't just be that easy. I got busy with too many other projects yesterday and didn't get a chance to check it for myself.
 I did drop the slides of a K0 in backwards and right to left once. That will make the fool out of you.

  A preliminary investigation shows the slides alternate pin location per the carb side, as in 1-2 or 3-4 I dropped a 4-cable slide into an empty 657A carb body and the cut-away was on the engine side but when I dropped a different one in, it was correct. 
  I think it may work if I can get 3 more idle screws with springs and either a replacement K0 carb plate or I'll need to cut down a later type to look right. Out of 5 old carb bodies I have, one is K0 and three of the newer ones have broken posts so I'd need to rob a complete set.
  I can make a tubular jig to drill the idle screw holes in the center and then tap them. The castings have the boss there, well into the later model carbs.
