Just an FYI, AZ has an "abandoned vehicle title" process that is simple and much cheaper than filing for a bond. Other states might have it too. Just fill out a form that states the vehcile has been abandoned on your property for longer han 30 days ("my old roomate left and said he didn't want it..." type of thing), and then you send a registered letter to the last registered owner. If he/she receives it (I've bought bikes out of the system for years where the address no longer exists, in which case it's considered fine) he/she can dispute it. Of course if it's a legit sale and the letter reaches the former owner, no dispute occurs and you get a new title.
