Carb sync tool hose lengths
« on: October 07, 2023, 03:32:40 AM »
Just curious.....when syncing the carbs with a vacuum sync tool, do the hoses need to be the same length?

Cheers

When I got my Morgan tool I think they said the length wasn't as important as the placement of the dampers. They gave a minimum distance from the "source" you are testing and IIRC that it should be the same. Also there was a minimum distance of the dampers to the tool. I don't know if it is the same for analog devices.

Be warned this info is from a bit of a fuzzy memory.

If you are worried swap hoses on the same manifold nipple to the same gauge and observe. If you want to be real anal, first check the same cylinder on all gauges with the same hose first.  Trust in yourself.

I got a 1 to 4 adapter at an aquarium store and connected to a 100ml syringe I have for adding water to batteries, then adjusted the gauges to read the same by turning the faces. Not "accurate" but they all read the same. Then dropped and two broke, got a Carbtune. I just trust it. Swapping hoses makes no change. The snubber thing goes near the carb end as I recall.

Thanks for all the responses!  As mentioned, I was just curious....my Raytech electronic sync tool does in fact have all 4 tubes the same length.
