Leather saddlebags for a CB750 with 4-into-4 pipes?
« on: October 03, 2023, 11:12:28 PM »
I am looking for a pair of simple, black, leather, "throw-over" saddlebags. The type one could drape over the inner fender and close the seat on.
This my first CB750 with stock pipes, and those budget type I used before unfortunately rest on the pipes.

Anyone use soft-bags with stock pipes? Have a recommendation?

I prefer simple, black leather...no fringe, and no virgin emu-down lined, rattlesnake-skin. ;P Something like the ones in the old photo here.

You made the right choice imo. I remember I published extensively on the subject. If you don't ride two up, maybe you won't need a luggage carrier. Just saddle your workhorse. I recommend leather bags, or other soft bags and certainly not hard cases. Years ago I made a leather set, they were great. Leather is pretty expensive to get now, back then I lived near Napa, California and there was a tannery shop there that had a great selection. I still have the bags but they are used as display relics now, since the bags and the owner are relics.

Deltarider: I read that thread. You certainly have definite opinions on things. ;)
I'm not against hard bags, they just don't fit my current needs.

Maui K3. Yes, leather is definitely pricey now. Cool that you still have your hand-made bags. Got a photo?

There's a used bike stuff store at exit 208 off of I-5 called Biker Recycle. Its not open every day though. They have a lot of stuff.
