Do I really want another project?
My interests have shifted over the last couple of years. I no longer have friends to ride with. I didn't go through a whole tank of gas on my 2017 Triumph Street Scrambler this year. I finished up the '71 CB500 (a project that took a year, when I would have knocked it out in a few months before). I've put a whopping 65 miles on it.
But ... an acquaintance has offered me his 1978 CB550K. It's not running, but complete minus the RH side cover. Wasn't stored properly, so I'm sure I'll have to clean the fuel system. Hasn't run in a few years, butI remember him riding it. No title, but I can get around that. He's asking $400, and I figure it will run me between $200-300 to get a title. So ... $700 for a a complete, (eventually) titled, stock 1978 CB550K.
I'm tempted, but projects don't excite me anymore. And yet, I find myself building this thing in my head. I already know how it would turn out. The CB500/550 is easy for me. I've done a ton of them and I have some spares. Part of me says get it and take your time collecting parts, etc. But.... why? To have a 3rd bike I don't ride?
What should I do? Grab it and keep on keeping on? Skip it and focus my time, money and attention on other things in life right now?
