At least it’s easy to get in there and clean it up for welding.

I clean & my mate fix.

Scott…… Curious where you buy foam? I never seem to get quite the right density.

I once saw a video of someone that used an electric knife to shape seat foam, it looked like it worked well.

+1   I want to know also;density is 'key'.
Closed-cell or open-cell foam ?

I did google searches & read a bit over a few days & still couldn’t work out what I needed.

I searched just trying to buy foam without knowing exactly what I needed.

I then came across a web site in Australia called “home upholstery”.  I got onto their “cut foam calculator” on the web site and still couldn’t work it out, so I phoned them & they walked me through the process and told me to select “transportation seating” as the intended use of the foam & that narrowed it down to 3 selections. I went for the medium firm one.

Plus delivery was only $9, it turned up in a couple of days.

Still waiting on the seat cover from the US & my mate has the seat base under repair, then I have to work out how to best shape the foam & fit the cover.

Seat cover & pinch weld both turned up.

I think my mate has finished the seat base too.

Might get a chance to put my first seat together soon.

Nice bike, good find.

I have a XL250 myself, and it's in need of a lot of love, and will get it soon as I finish the other five rebuilds I have going on.

She needs a lot of part and fabricating.

If it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, it's because I cut and pasted from someone else.
