Adjusting cam chain tensioner - with mounted sidecar.
« on: October 28, 2023, 02:07:26 PM »
Red developed some slight hickups, so I took off the tank and carburetors to do some cleaning.  I have subsonic cleaner on the way and want to make them carbs nice and shiny  ;D

I also took off the tensioner.  Turns out the holding M6 bolt was stripped and did not keep the plunger in place.  I replaced the bolt and put the tensioner back, but with the sidecar I am unable to follow the points plate and set it at 15 degrees past TDC.

Before I start messing with lights and mirrors, any ideeas?  Over my points plate is Pamco ignition, therefore I really have to look straight in and with a light.

Taking the hack off is the last option and it would likely make me drink.   ;D

Never mind the bike and just drink?  ;D

Since this is not timing of the spark, I think I will use a stick in spark plug hole "4, bring it all the way up and use timing wheel to measure 15 degress after that.

Thoughts?

Should work just fine, for what you are doing.
