Interesting little torque tightening chart
« on: October 29, 2023, 03:32:53 PM »

Found this little chart in the install book for my Hepco and Becker engine guards. Seems like a nice little reference taking into account different size bolts and different materials.

That is indeed useful information for fasteners not even in motorcycles. Thanx for posting

That chart has values lower than conventional charts I believe because it is also recommending using medium strength LocTite. Such an additive alters the torque value of threads.

Just be aware of these differences…

yes they are talking about mounting their crash bars on the bike - so a little Loctite is probably a good idea. I have seen so many discussions on torque values on the forum here that it seemed like it was worth a look..

Yes, data like that make me to avoid Hondas recommendation when tightening the cam/holder bolts/nuts on my CB750 which will ensure  ruined threads.
I tighten max 9Nm as written in your doc. Even with thread inserts. The inserts sits in the alu.

I have ruined too many threads up there, cover included that I tighten even less, max 7.5Nm with new gasket, 5Nm next time reusing the gasket for engine covers.
