CB350F oil filter canister
« on: November 04, 2023, 06:11:31 PM »
Hi ya all…
Just finished assembling a nice unrestored 1972 CB350 four.
When I was prepping it for it’s first start after many years of inactivity I noticed that the oil canister is much bigger than the CB750 and inside is an aluminum space to set the filter the correct distance from the engine.
Why is the canister so much bigger than the 750’s? I’ve assumed it’s to increase the oil capacity of the engine as I cant see or find any reasonable answer to why this is otherwise.
Opinions please….
Al

And given the original large canister is damaged I fitted a new CB750 one I had - so far there doesn’t seem to be any problem with the reduced oil volume.

Al….. That bike looks very solid and complete! Original pipes? Interested to see pictures of that filter housing and extra part.

The 400F came with the shorter filter housing, with a spring but no spacer. I've switched them over to 350Fs without any issues.
