Bent Side Stand

The picture below shows a good straight used side stand on the left; and my K1's bent side stand on the right... (Not quite to scale!)



I've propped up the near end of my stand to approximate the parallax introduced by NPN when they took the picture of their straight used stand. (Thanks NPN!) 

I'm pretty sure I can heat up an inch or two at the apex of the bend, and straighten the main kick stand strut.

The question is, how best to handle the heat, (or cooling), to retain, (or regain), its strength?  So it doesn't bend again?

Is this a common problem on CB750s?

Thoughts, comments, or suggestions welcome!

Why not just get another sidestand?

It probably happened over time as tye PO
may have been some short overweight, stepping on the foot pedal while on the sidestand to get up on the bike multiple times in it's life???
Or someone added lowering blocks at the bottom of the rear shocks and raised the fork tubes in the triple trees and then purposely bent the sidestand so the bike wouldn't fall over in the wind.

If you are going to heat it take it to red and let it cool naturaly

I have straightened three stands in the press, heat not required, stands are flexable.

NPN = NOS Parts Now

EDIT:  Added... Why not a new one?  The first one that came up in a Google search was $175.  Yikes!
So, I thought I'd try straightening the one I have.


Happened over time?  Yep!  I just noticed the bike leaning over more one day.

No POs here!  I'm the only owner of this one.

I would use heat/torch in a big bench vise(imo)to bend it back,then let it cool-off naturally.

My k1 was bent just like that, I just grabbed a used one for like $20. Do you need a NOS one, or would a used one be sufficient? I'm pretty sure they're cheap on ebay.

Good to hear you are the original owner. 😀

I didn't say a New stand....
I said get another sidestand. Get a used one and repaint it.
I might have a used one.
Put an ad in the wanted section. There should be plenty available my members.....watch out for replies from new members, lots of scammers with 0 posts reply "I have one, PM me....." get them to post pictures of it before you send them payment.
