Bill….. No. I have a few really good used pipes that I’ve picked up years ago. The K6 will have a very nice set of 341’s. I think three of them are originals from this bike.

Possible to remove alternator cover and trans cover without too many drops of oil dripping out if leaning the bike to the other side.
1st gear in, right handle bar side against a wall.

Maybe not possible on a lift though.

Per….That’s very true. Since I was pulling both sides, to be polished, I drained the sump first.

Test fitted exhaust spigots and #4 pipe. Stopped into a local shop (Bolts+) and picked up a fantastic substitute fastener for the 8 screws that hold in the exhaust spigots. These stainless screws have the same dimensions as the Honda parts and are screwed in with an Allen key!

Looking good John.  Do you use any sort of anti-seize when using stainless steel fasteners?

I always put some form of lube on SS fasteners, especially when they are used in a different metal. When it's SS nut and bolt I also use lube, they like to seize when not lubed up.

Yes, always. Used to use “CopperSlip” but then couldn’t find it locally. I have a pot of a Felpro Grey that I like for steel/ aluminum. I’m on my second one. Stuff seems to last forever!

I use high temp alu paste on bolts as exhaust spigots and spark plugs threads when needed.
Very high temp paste, +1100*C ;)
Very little needed.

Greg (the polisher) just texted me a photo of my sprocket cover. It’s the one I got from Bobco and was stained and corroded. I should have taken a “before” picture!

Beautiful!

I wonder how they get it so shiny.

It’s what he does and very good at it! He apologized because the generator was so badly corroded it ended up with some tiny “pores”! Looks OK to me.

Mounted up the right side pipes (very clean, original HM341’s). Covers are ready, I’ll pick them up tomorrow. Pictures then.

Removed the sprocket, transmission, alternator and clutch covers. Cleaned off the oil and am handing them off to a local guy that polishes aluminum. “Greg’s Metal Grinding and Polishing” in Oshawa, Ontario. Does fantastic work and reasonable charges.
I'm interested to know how much as I might polish some sets of covers.

Stu….. Cdn$150 for the four covers (cash only!).

For those interested in alternator assembly; here it is back together. The inner “ring” goes in first. The wires from it fit in the slot first. The outer coil goes in and is a tight fit. You’ll know it is sitting correctly when the four retaining screws run in smoothly. I lean down hard on the impact tool to get a good bite and use the 8 mm wrench to give them and good pull.  Last bit is the metal locating tab that keeps the wires where they belong. The three screws come in from the outside to hold the inner “ring” get a small dab of sealant under their heads to prevent any oil drooling out there.

“Hondaman” suggests there are thin, copper sealing washers in there. I didn’t find any, so added the sealant instead.

This photo shows the wires tied in place and the cover back on the bike. They are colour coded. NOTE: I had the single white wire routed incorrectly. It stays in the sprocket housing and goes down, around the back of the transmission cover and then forward to the neutral switch. There should be a wire clip bolted under the main case to hold it up against the engine.

Both sides buttoned up. Added an oil pressure gauge for start up! Unfortunately the oil pressure switch is not sending a ground. I’ll leave it until after startup. Occasionally, they mysteriously free up and start working.

Right side is almost done. Cleanup and install left side pipes next time. Then build a set of carbs.

Yep! He and his son both have full time jobs. This is a shed at the bottom of their yard that paid for a very nice fishing boat last year! They also have a small trailer with all their equipment, to go out to big rigs. Polish wheels, tanks, stacks etc….
