Good to have bowl bottom plugs removable.
I did not bother to do that on mine. I will at next bowl off.

I had extra bowls where I had to use a vise to hold the screws while rotating the bowl to get them loose.

Per….. I was lucky with these, they all came out easily! I’ve snapped them off and destroyed more than a few!

Progress Today!

FYI….. The intake manifolds I bought from vintagecb750.com were absolutely useless. They are specifically listed for 1971-76 cb750K. They snapped on nicely, looked  and felt good. HOWEVER, the throat spacing for my K6 was totally wrong. I had a nice clean Honda set that I was saving for another project. Subbed them in and the carbs fit perfectly. I’m going to make sure the box and part number are correct and what I ordered. Assuming they are, they’ll be getting them back. For Cdn$122 I expect an explaination and a refund.

Hopefully they take care of you. They sent me the wrong clutch springs, so I asked them for an exchange. After 3 weeks of hearing nothing I received two sets of the correct springs. I was like, fair enough.

You're setting the bar pretty high there John!!

Tell me about it. This thread is the precise reason why I've bitten off more than I can chew. Oh well. If the project falls behind schedule I can just buy a daily rider while I finish it off

It's interesting how what was supposed to be a quick clean up can develop into a massive job. I've been here before but...............  Your thread keeps me motivated. This may be the last one I do so it is great you have posted your work. Thanks.

My apologies to both of you! Cliff’s pictures made me laugh out loud. Amazing how these motorcycles just “fall to pieces” in our workshops!

Reminds me of one of my favourite cartoons. Woman has her head stuck through the garage door asking her husband “ Have you sorted that burned out tail light yet?”. He’s standing in the middle of a huge pile of motorcycles parts in the centre of his workshop……

Found it. Check out the details. I like the “metal melta” welding machine.

Air box, hoses and cables installed. Run out of 5.5 mm fuel line, need to order a roll. Getting very close to “fire in the hole”! Going to clean out my Motion Pro synchronizer sticks next. The last time I lent them to a friend he sucked all the fluid out of them. I have a new bottle of it somewhere….. I hope.

Thanks. Great winter project so far. The weather has been so “spring like” here that I jumped over to my ‘08 Honda Varadero, to complete some maintenance work. As soon as that’s done, we’ll see if this one will run.

Thanks guys. Got the static timing set today. Took a while because I’d inadvertently used an advancer that came with the Rickman race bike. Someone had messed with it and it’s fubared. Changed it out for a “stock” one and done in 5 minutes.

Finally made up a rod to hold the remote fuel tank at a decent height, out of the way. Plan to use it for my Motion Pro synchronizer stick board too.

Time to crank up oil pressure (already did a few weeks ago), new plugs, check for spark, load the carbs, check for leaks (bench tested OK), and then crank it up.

The seat looks very good.

Bill…… The gentleman that sold me this bike bought a lot of NOS parts for it. Pretty sure that seat is one of them.

Brought in some fresh gas today and finished up the Varadero. Runs better than ever. The Volvo C30 came out of the shed for 2024 and decided it needed a new battery. Grand daughter’s 17th Birthday this weekend will be all consuming. I have no idea where I used to find time for +50 hour a week job?

This one comes to life next week!

Dennis….. I order a small bottle of fluid from Motion Pro. It’s got some alcohol in it, almost like windshield washer fluid, but a bit thicker. Tried to brew my own, but it “stuck” in the tubes and made a mess. Capped and stored properly, it lasts a long time. Unless you lend it to a friend who snaps his throttles closed suddenly and pulls it out the top!

I moved my shop and found an old baby food bottle of mercury, yikes! Odd because I never used one of that type gauge anyway. I best find a drop off spot for that pronto.

That reminds of of the joke about a mystery substance that looked like, smelled like, and tasted like poo, and those that found were fortunate to not get any on their shoes LOL.
